Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei has said that China continues to maintain that all sides in Syria should immediately stop fighting, support mediation efforts and start a political transition "led by the Syrian people." Hong Lei made the remarks in a daily briefing on Monday responding to questions about Syrian opposition groups announcing the formation of a new coalition.
